Rick is currently working with students, faculty and staff in the Blum Center’s Global Poverty and Practice Minor to develop an online platform for student learning, project collaboration and social networking. Rick also serves as web developer and user research lead within the Collaboration Services group of UC Berkeley’s Information Services & Technology–Data Services Department. For UC Berkeley’s Interactive University, Rick served as Project Manager of City Watershed, a $1.3 million project funded by the US Department of Commerce Technology Opportunities Program. Rick also co-developed and -led the EDGE (Eastmont Digital Griots Enroute) digital storytelling project. Prior to joining the Interactive University, Rick worked for 20 years making films and videos for the broadcast, educational and home markets. He produced and directed the award-winning documentary The Water Cycle, and served as Director of the Multimedia Production Unit in the UC Berkeley College of Natural Resources from 1998 to 2001. Rick completed the UC Berkeley Leadership Development Program in 2006-2007. He has a BA degree in history from Stanford University.
